Combining Ability and Gene Action for Yield Characteristics in Novel Aromatic Cytoplasmic Male Sterile Hybrid Rice under Water-Stress Conditions

Hybrid rice parental lines with better combining abilities provide an efficient tool to increase production. In the current study, twenty hybrid combinations were generated from five aromatic cytoplasmic male sterile (CMS) and four restorer (three of them aromatic) using a line × tester mating design. The hybrids their evaluated under two water regimes: normal irrigation water-stress. Ten yield-component traits studied over period 2 years, significant differences between parents are reported in this investigation. Overall, all yield component significantly affected by deficit governed both additive non-additive gene actions. More specifically, grain (GY) was mainly controlled action water-stress conditions. contribution variance (?2 A) more prominent genetic components as compared dominance D).
